Understand where you stand at work before you respond

A grievance, warning, show cause letter or redundancy notice can leave you unsure what to do next. Get plain information about your rights, what your employer has to do and your options.

Start Basic

Start with your question

  • Understand your rights and award pay. Ask about the modern award that covers your role and the clauses behind the answer.
  • Get a letter drafted. Explain your situation and get a first draft to check before you send it.

Dismissal time limits: 21 days

A dismissed employee has 21 days from the date the dismissal takes effect to lodge an unfair dismissal application (Fair Work Act 2009, s.394) or a general protections dismissal application (s.366).

If you have been dismissed, seek lawyer or union help promptly. Do not wait for an AI answer before getting help with a deadline.

Know when to get help

This is general information, not legal advice. If your matter is heading to a hearing or you need advice about making a claim, speak to a lawyer or your union. Check answers and drafts against the sources before relying on them.
